hello,

This is Aruthra Ranjithprabhu, the Founder and President of SynapticSocratic. Deeply passionate about neuroscience, Aruthra is a high school senior who has conducted research on the neural impacts of GnRHa puberty blockers. Aruthra serves as the co-founder of her school's Ethics Bowl team and is an enthusiastic member of the Speech and Debate team, actively engaging in philosophical Lincoln Douglas debates. In her free time, she likes to play badminton and pen pal!

my story

Following my grandmother's Alzheimer's diagnosis, the realization of her forgetting me weighed heavily. As time passed, she began to hallucinate, crawling under tables in search of devils only she could see. My quest for solace led me to Cedarbrook Memory Care, where I delved deeper into the world of neurodegenerative diseases. Fueling my newfound interest, I enrolled in online classes on Coursera, where I was fascinated learning about the neural implications of transgender hormonal therapy.

Shocked at the lack of research in this field, I collaborated with Dr. Hydock at UNC to grow and spread my knowledge. However, throughout my journey, an essential question persisted in my mind: Is this ethical? To provide a satisfying answer, I founded SynapticSocratic—an online platform dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary dialogues that explore the philosophical underpinnings of emerging neuroscience discoveries and practices.
